Mission

The mission of the Greater Harrisburg REALTORS® Foundation is to financially support non-profit charitable organizations with a housing and shelter related focus, which enrich the quality of life and support the human need of the greater Harrisburg community.

Structure

The Foundation is incorporated as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and has tax-exempt status under 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It is wholly owned subsidiary of the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® Inc.

History

The Greater Harrisburg REALTORS® Foundation was formally organized in 1990, building on the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® long history of community involvement as an organization. Over the years, the Association and its Foundation has been involved in numerous community projects. In recent years, the Foundation has shifted its focus to raising funds to support non-profit organizations in the Harrisburg area.

In 2004, the Foundation helped one family achieve their dream of homeownership. The Foundation provided not only the necessary funds but also countless hours of work with Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area. The Foundation’s Habitat for Humanity house is on North 13th Street in Harrisburg. Two years later, in 2006, the Foundation collaborated with Cumberland Valley Habitat for Humanity to give another family a home of their own. This house is on West Penn Street in Carlisle.

 

The Foundation is also regulated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania under the “Solicitation of Funds for Charitable Purposes Act.” A copy of the official registration and financial information for the Foundation may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling toll-free within Pennsylvania, 1-800-732-0999.
