Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® Foundation Hosts Annual Charity Golf Outing

ENOLA, PA – Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® Foundation hosted its Annual Golf Outing on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Armitage Golf Club in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Proceeds will benefit housing-related charities in the Greater Harrisburg area.

“REALTORS® believe it is important and imperative we give back to our community,” said Kathy Ludwig, CEO. “Our golf outing is just one of our events we do to raise money for our community partners. We enjoy the commitment to making our communities a better place. That’s Who We Are!”.

The Foundation welcomes men, women, and mixed foursomes from all business and organization types. For the 144 golfers, a shotgun start marked the beginning of the tournament at noon. An award and recognition ceremony concluded the event.

“Because of the generous support of our sponsors, donors, and golfers, the Foundation raised over $8,000 today,” announced Isabel Warrell, President of the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® Foundation. “On behalf of the Foundation, we are awarding $2,000 each to Cumberland Valley Habitat for Humanity, Perry Housing Partnership, and New Hope Ministries”.

Cumberland Valley Habitat for Humanity builds and improves homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of a decent and affordable place to live in Cumberland and Perry Counties. The organization plans to use the funds towards repairs and improvements to their “Home Again” program.

Perry Housing Partnership develops affordable housing opportunities for residents of Perry County including low-income, disabled, elderly, and homeless individuals and families. The organization will use these funds to renovate the kitchenette of an efficiency apartment for the Perry County Disabled Veterans Program.

New Hope Ministries serves those in time of need and supports their efforts towards stability. The organization will use these funds to provide rent, mortgage, and utility assistance to help local low-income families avoid eviction, foreclosure, and homelessness.

The Foundation also collected small sporting equipment donations for the Joshua Group in Harrisburg. The organization assists young people find a way out of the violence, poverty and despair in their neighborhood, by providing Harrisburg youth educational and vocational opportunities.

Golf tournament prizes included a Hole-In-One contest for a new car, Longest Drive, Straightest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Longest Putt, and more. To conclude the day, participants enjoyed a buffet dinner and had a chance to win gift baskets and door prizes.
