Who We R®

Mission

The mission of the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® is to serve real estate professionals through a commitment to promote ethical and competent real estate practices, to support the preservation of real property rights, to provide leadership in adapting to advances in the industry, and to enhance each member’s opportunity for success.

REALTORS® belonging to the Association have made a commitment to their profession by subscribing to a strict Code of Ethics – thus earning them the right to use the term REALTOR®. The Association provides the resources necessary to enhance the professional development of its members, while also promoting and protecting the private property rights of consumers.

History

In 1916, the Harrisburg Real Estate Board was formed as a part of the National Association of Real Estate Boards. Through the years, the name changed to the Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® (GHAR). Since its inception, GHAR has been working to further the interests of its members and to promote the value of home ownership in Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry counties.

Tiers of GHAR

GHAR is a local Association, placed directly under the State and National Association of REALTORS®.

The Greater Harrisburg Association of REALTORS® is made up of the Association, Commercial Council, Education Institute and the Foundation. All of these pieces work together to provide our members with the resources to succeed in all aspect of their real estate career.
